About the Artist — Ted Clifton
(The Crazed, Color-Obsessed Mind Behind Theo’s Curations)
Yes, I’m the crazed, slightly eccentric artist responsible for every image you see here at Theo’s Curations. I’m the one slaving away each day—capturing emotion, digging for insight, and occasionally stumbling into something magical. My name is Ted Clifton, and despite what you may think, I do not currently live in a cabin in the mountains or that crummy little room you might imagine (anymore)… though I wouldn’t mind going back to one of those someday.
My art is powered by imagination, decades of experience, and a handy-dandy computer that helps bring bold, impossible colors to life. “My art begins with my imagination: compositions, color theory, style choices, and refinement. Technology is just one of my brushes — the vision is mine.”
I spent decades living across the Southwest—New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Texas, and Oklahoma. My artistic instincts first sparked in Oklahoma, but they didn’t truly catch fire until I moved to New Mexico. I lived in Las Cruces and Albuquerque and made countless trips to Santa Fe, soaking in the textures, colors, and cultures that define the region.
Some of my best adventures came from flying in a tiny, barely-airworthy airplane into remote corners of Arizona and New Mexico. I landed on dirt roads, wandered into wild desert landscapes, and spent hours up close with cactus species that looked more like sculptures than plants. And when it rained? The desert transformed. Colors exploded. The cactus shifted from quiet to electric. Those experiences shaped everything I create.
For a long time, I painted only cactus. Then the landscapes came. Then the colors grew bolder. And then I stopped trying to restrain them altogether, and everything became a possiblity.
My art is bold. It’s colorful. It’s unique.
And I hope, truly, that it brings you the same joy it brings me to create it.
Welcome to my world — and thanks for being part of the journey.
